Church restoration
The Zabiela family chapel, built in 1859, became the parish church after the fire of 1944. Its distinctive shape, dome and setting bear witness to the long history of this place. Today the building is being restored.

The dome above Labūnava
A great dome covers the circular space of the former chapel and makes the Labūnava church recognisable from afar. Its outline, recorded in old architectural drawings, has survived to the present day.
The renewed roof covering now catches the light above the cemetery and the trees. The parish and those who support it are working together to preserve the building.

Views of the church
From a panorama of Labūnava, the view draws closer to the chapel dome, its façades and the path leading to the old doors. Each angle reveals another feature of the building and the place around it.
Church architecture
From above, the circular centre of the chapel and its adjoining wings reveal the distinctive plan of this Classical-period building.

The dome up close
The metal roof covering follows the curve of the dome. Above it rises a small lantern crowned with a cross.
Church and surroundings
Cemetery paths, mature trees and fields beyond are part of this place. The church dome is visible above them from afar.
Approaching the church
Stone steps lead to the old doors. On either side of the entrance stand statues of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary, moved here after the earlier church was destroyed by fire.
